If you’re starting university in September, chances are you’ve heard a bit about societies already. Curious to know more and them and how they can enhance your time at NTU? Here’s everything you need to know.
WHAT ARE SOCIETIES?
Societies are groups that bring together like-minded students with similar interests. Here at the Students’ Union, we have more than 120 of them ranging from knitting and astrology to maths and photography.
WHY SHOULD I JOIN ONE?
One of the biggest worries most people have about starting their university experience is making friends. Societies are a great way to do that. As well as bringing together students with similar interests, societies run regular events and activities that are the perfect opportunity to meet new people.
You can also learn new skills. Whether it’s radio presenting or chess, joining one is a chance for you to try something you haven’t before.
HOW DO I JOIN?
You can find an A-Z list of all our societies and sign up online here.
WHAT IF I CAN’T FIND WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR?
If there isn’t currently a society you’re interested in, you can start your own. All you need is 10 friends who are interested in doing the same.
